Reminder on Accurate Declaration of Source Information for Imported Food Products

Accurate declarations of source information are essential in food product tracing and enable timely response during food safety incidents and food product recalls. SFA seeks the cooperation of all importers in ensuring that the source of imported food products is accurately declared in permit applications.

2 Importers are responsible for obtaining information on the source of the food products (e.g. establishment name and location) from your suppliers and maintain them as part of your traceability records. Please declare the source, including establishment, prefectural, state or province codes under ‘CA/SC Code 1’ field of import permit applications. The list of establishment, prefectural, state or province codes can be found at Tools & Resources. For food products (e.g. meat and meat products, egg and egg products, puffer fish) which are required to be obtained from SFA-accredited sources, the SFA-accredited establishment codes are to be declared instead.
