REVISED EXPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR MALDIVES
The Maldives Food and Drug Authority has revised its import requirements for food products exported to the Maldives.
(A) Export Health Certificate Required for Food Products of Animal Origin [with effect from 30 June 2026]
2 Maldives now mandates that all food product consignments of animal origin must be accompanied by an Export Health Certificate (EHC). This applies to the following products:
- Meat and meat products
- Fish and fishery products
- Eggs and egg products
3 The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) issues two types of EHC for food products, depending on their origin.
a. For export of locally manufactured products: The manufacturer must appoint a Qualified Person (QP) to oversee the export process and engage an Auditing Organisation to conduct the Export Audit. Please refer to Export Health Certificate application process for the details of the EHC application process.
b. For re-export of imported products: The re-exporter must appoint a Person-in-Charge (PIC) to oversee the re-export process. The Re-exporter must arrange a one-time onsite inspection by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) of the re-exported consignment storage location. Please refer to Export Health Certificate (Re-Export) application process for the details of the EHC (Re-Export) application process.
4 Please note that you must specify the transport and storage condition (ambient/chilled/frozen) in the product description when applying for EHC or EHC (Re-export).
(B) Watermark Format Certificates [with effect from 31 Mar 2026]
5 All export certificates issued by SFA for the Maldives will transit to watermarked format. Exporters with watermark-compatible printers may print certificates at their premises using the Digital Document Reader (DDR) software. Certificates will be mailed to exporters without compatible printers.
6 The application process for all types of export certificates remains unchanged. For more information on GoBusiness submissions, please refer to https://file.go.gov.sg/exportcertuserguide.pdf
