Lifting of suspension of Suvai Foods Pte Ltd’s food business operations

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has lifted the suspension of the food business operations of Suvai Foods Pte Ltd, located at 1009 Aljunied Avenue 4, #01-36, Singapore 389910.

2             On 21 February 2023, during an inspection of the implicated premises, non-compliances such as widespread pest infestations in the food processing area and food delivery trucks, as well as unauthorised use of office space for packing were observed. SFA also found several lapses related to poor housekeeping and hygiene practices of the premises. In the interest of public health, SFA suspended Suvai Foods Pte Ltd and directed the licensee to rectify the lapses and take the necessary measures to improve the cleanliness of its premises.

3             Suvai Foods Pte Ltd, which was suspended from 21 February 2023, is allowed to resume operations as it has rectified the lapses that were identified leading to its suspension (https://www.sfa.gov.sg/newsroom/food-hygiene-notices/detail/suspension-of-the-food-business-operations-of-suvai-foods-pte-ltd-located-at-1009-aljunied-avenue-4-01-36-singapore-389910).

4            Food safety is a joint responsibility as food can be contaminated anywhere along the food chain. While SFA continues to be vigilant and works to ensure that regulatory measures are in place and properly enforced, the industry and consumers must also play their part.

5            All food operators should ensure that their premises are clean and well-maintained, and staff are adequately trained on proper food safety management. SFA will take enforcement action against food operators who do not adhere to regulations or comply with food hygiene and food safety requirements. Offenders are liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.

6            Members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in food establishments are advised not to patronise them but to report to SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) with details for our follow-up investigations.
