Many of us have probably done this: Opened a can of food, and rather than storing whatever is left separately, placed the can straight into the refrigerator.
If so, it’s time to kick that habit – never put opened canned food in the refrigerator. Instead, you should transfer the unused portion into an airtight container first and then keep it in the refrigerator to maintain its quality.
TIP: Before opening canned food, wipe the tops of the cans to remove any dust or dirt. Don’t forget to clean the can opener as well! For more handy food safety tips, visit bit.ly/sfafoodsafety.
