During a Parliamentary session in May 2017, SMS Dr Koh Poh Koon spoke about the rising prices of formula milk in Singapore, and the Government’s plans to address concerns over this issue. Dr Koh also added that he will lead a task force of various agencies, including AVA, to put in place key measures by the end of 2017.
AVA will be amending advertising rules such that the code of ethics governing formula milk for infants below six months of age will be extended to cover those for infants up to 12 months old, while also taking international best practices into consideration. AVA will also tighten labelling and advertising regulations on formula milk – health claims and images promoting formula over breast milk will be prohibited.
