Are raw fish slices safe to eat?

In general, most fish sold at Singapore’s wet markets, fresh produce section of supermarkets, and fishery ports should not be eaten raw.

Raw food is likely to contain more bacteria compared to well-cooked food. Cooking raw food well is still the most effective way to kill bacteria.

However, if you plan to feast on some raw fish, be sure to purchase them from retail food establishments and supermarkets that have separate counters or sections dedicated for the sale of ready to eat raw fish.
