Training in the Food Safety Management System

"WSQ Apply Food Safety Management System" for food service establishments

Training is a key component in the implementation of FSMS. Successful implementation and maintenance of FSMS requires commitment and knowledge. To help with the implementation of FSMS, a WSQ-certified training programme on FSMS for the food retail industry has been developed.

The course, 'WSQ Apply Food Safety Management for Food Service Establishments', equips staff of food service establishments with the practical knowledge and skills to develop a FSMS based on the Singapore Standard. The course consists of 14 hours of coursework, and five hours of assessment. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded to participants.

Assessment format

The training programme will enable participants to develop a FSMS plan for submission to SFA, which can be applied and demonstrated at their premises. Assessment for this programme will be conducted in both in-class theory and on-site practical forms.

The assessors conducting the on-site practical assessment will assess and guide participants in FSMS implementation. Such on-site assessment assures licensees that their FSMS plans will meet SFA’s requirements. A SFA officer will inspect the premises based on the submitted FSMS plan.
